At Archaeological Museum, see urns, artifacts, and art representing the culture and traditions of the town's inhabitants from the 6th millennium BCE to the 17th century CE. Walk through two sections of the museum, which divide the collection into the archeological part and the Christian art section. View anchors and bayonets of ancient civilizations, and browse through a variety of extravagant Greek vases and amphorae. Look for relics of John the Baptist, preserved in an alabaster casket. The site also has numerous scripts, maps, and photographs that describe historical information and the museum's workings. • Local archeological museum with all periods of this area covered. Some labels are in English as well as Bulgarian, but not a lot of written information in general. I was the only person there and...  more »
  • There were a few pieces of pottery that were beautiful with art, many Greek artifacts. However the whole 2 rooms that this museum was happened to be filled with nothing more than pottery and Amphora, Amphora EVERYWHERE! I was told by many friends that while visiting Sozopol that I must visit this museum for many amazing artifacts they have, including the body of a suspected vampire, however when I went they did not have any of the artifacts that I was told about. The tickets were expensive in my opinion at 7 Lv(bgn), so I was uneasy at the price for what we were able to see. There was very little description for any of the artifacts that were in the Museum, and what was given a description, was not even in Bulgarian, or English, they were in French. Was not very pleased at all.
  • Worth a visit. Small museum but has some cool locally sourced artefacts
