Often described as the city of laptops and lederhosen, Munich is an international center of business, engineering, research, and medicine that still maintains a rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions.
For shopping fun, head to Viktualienmarkt or Schack-Galerie. Munich Residenz and Deutsches Museum will appeal to museum buffs. There's much more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at English Garden, stop by Haidhausen, get into the urban bustle at Cultural Center (Kulturzentrum Gasteig), and make a trip to Marienplatz.
