Often described as the city of laptops and lederhosen, Munich is an international center of business, engineering, research, and medicine that still maintains a rich cultural heritage and age-old traditions.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Deutsches Museum and Nymphenburg Palace. There's still lots to do: stroll around Theresienwiese, make a trip to Marienplatz, take in panoramic vistas at Frauenkirche, and contemplate the long history of Rathaus-Glockenspiel.
