Oradea the capital city of Bihor County and Crișana region, is one of the important centers of economic, social and cultural development in the western part of Romania, retaining these characteristics throughout history. Get some historical perspective at The Roman-Catholic Cathedral and Oradea Fortress. Discover out-of-the-way places like Ciuperca Hill and Oradea Zoo. When in Oradea, make a side trip to see Peştera cu cristale din mina Farcu in Rosia, approximately 1h 25 min away. There's much more to do: walk around Ion C. Bratianu Park, cool off at Apollo-Felix Waterpark, stop by Lotus Center, and get a sense of history and politics at Oradea City Hall.

Baia Mare is a municipality along the Săsar River, in northwestern Romania; it is the capital of Maramureș County. Wooden Churches of Maramures and Merry Cemetery will appeal to history buffs. Surdesti Wooden Church and COMPLEXUL ASTRONOMIC BAIA MARE are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Baia Mare side-trips: The Elie Wiesel Memorial House - The Museum of the Jewish Culture in Maramures (in Sighetu Marmatiei) and Icoana Cavnic (in Cavnic).
