Rome

— 2 nights

Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Visit Colosseum and Pantheon for their historical value. St. Peter's Basilica and Piazza Navona are good opportunities to explore the local culture. There's much more to do: admire the masterpieces at Vatican Museums, delve into the distant past at Palatine Hill, look for gifts at Antica Caciara Trasteverina, and admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain.

To see other places to visit, more things to do, reviews, and other tourist information, go to the Rome route planning app.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In December in Rome, expect temperatures between 16°C during the day and 4°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 12th (Mon) to allow time to travel back home.
