You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Margaret Island and Liberty Statue. The adventure continues: get a sense of history and politics at Hungarian Parliament Building, contemplate the long history of Matthias Church, admire the striking features of Dohány Street Synagogue, and witness a stunning natural landmark at Palatinus Strandfürdő.

Rome, Italy to Budapest is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. In July, Budapest is little chillier than Rome - with highs of 33°C and lows of 18°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Nitra.

Slovakia's capital, Bratislava, attracts visitors for its natural beauty and rich culture, offering a plethora of landscapes, outdoor activities, historical monuments, and a stately old town.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Devin Castle and Cumil. Change things up with a short trip to Cerveny Kamen Castle in Cerveny Kamen (about 50 minutes away). Traveling by car from Bratislava to Prague takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or take a train. When traveling from Bratislava in July, plan for a bit cooler days in Prague, with highs around 30°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Fri) so you can fly back home.
