Birthplace of the Italian Renaissance

Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Centro Storico. Discover out-of-the-way places like Basilica San Miniato al Monte and The Baptistery of St. John. Get out of town with these interesting Florence side-trips: Duomo di Siena (in Siena), Castello di Verrazzano (in Greve in Chianti) and Guardastelle Vineyard (in San Gimignano). There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at Florence Academy of Fine Arts, don't miss a visit to Piazzale Michelangelo, see the interesting displays at Pitti Palace, and take in the views from Ponte Vecchio.
